I began my piano studies in Russia, eventually earning a Specialist Degree with Distinction from the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory — one of the most prestigious music institutions in the world. There, I developed a deep foundation in the Russian piano tradition: rigorous technique, expressive depth, and thorough musical analysis.
Wanting to broaden my musical horizons, I applied to conservatories in the United States. I was awarded a full scholarship to the Mannes School of Music at The New School in New York City, where I earned my Professional Studies Diploma in Collaborative Piano. I also received the Dean's Award for academic and artistic excellence.
Having navigated the conservatory admissions process as an international student — with all its complexities of pre-screening recordings, TOEFL requirements, credential evaluations, and cultural adjustment — I understand exactly what aspiring conservatory students face. That firsthand experience is what drives my coaching.
When I applied to American conservatories, I had no guide. I made mistakes — choosing the wrong repertoire for certain schools, underestimating the importance of the pre-screening recording, not understanding the cultural differences in how auditions work. I eventually succeeded, but the process was far harder than it needed to be.
I started coaching because I wanted to give other pianists the guidance I wished I had. Every student I work with benefits from lessons I learned through trial and error — about what admissions committees actually look for, how to present yourself effectively, and how to choose repertoire that showcases your unique strengths.
I believe that conservatory admission isn't just about playing well — it's about presenting yourself as a complete musician. My coaching covers:
